Masked Rider Double (Kamen Rider Double) also called Masked Rider W (Kamen Rider W) is the eleventh series in the Heisei period run of the Kamen Rider Series and the twentieth Rider series overall. It premiered following the finale of Kamen Rider Decade on September 6, 2009 and aired alongside Samurai Sentai Shinkenger in TV Asahi's Super Hero Time programming block. Following Shinkenger's finale, it aired alongside Tensou Sentai Goseiger, until W concluded on August 29, 2010. The series is described as the "Heisei Kamen Rider 10th Anniversary Project : Fall Campaign" (Heisei Kamen Raida Jusshunen Purojekuto : Aki no Jin ? )
The catchphrase for the series is "This clinches it!"




Masked Rider Double was the 1st Kamen Rider that combined 2 person to a Kamen Rider. Two different person, Shotaro and Philips, are handling different Gaia Memories (pendrive) and perform different abilities when turns to Masked Rider Double.



When Philip sets the Cyclone Gaia Memory into his Double Driver and Shotaro sets his Joker Gaia Memory into his Double Driver, their souls and bodies fuse producing Kamen Rider W Cyclone Joker. Cyclone Joker is W's base form, accomplished by this 'Double Henshin', It is W's most balanced form, but does not have any weaponry. Instead, he is known as the 'Subayai Waza no Senshi' (Quick Technique Warrior), as the Cyclone Memory allows him to carry out attacks with blinding speed, as quickly as the wind. Different Gaia Memories can be swapped out for either side, allowing W to achieved different forms.



It's quit same as Ultraman Ace which Hokuto combined with Minami to be the Ultraman form.
But, Ultraman Ace using male and female and Kamen Rider Double just with both males.
In Malaysian Channel, Ultraman Ace mention as 'Ultraman Terulung'



Story of Masked Rider Double



In the ecologically-minded city of Futo (the Windy City), there are many windmills and the people live in harmony. However, the Sonozaki Family sell mysterious devices resembling USB flash drives called Gaia Memories to criminals and other interested parties who use them to become monsters called Dopants, committing crimes with the police force powerless to stop them. To make matters worse, the Gaia Memories carry a dangerous toxin that cause their users to go insane to the point where they could die from the life-threatening devices.

After the death of his boss, the self-proclaimed hardboiled (actually half-boiled) detective Shotaro Hidari works with the mysterious Philip, who possesses the true Gaia Memory, to investigate crimes which involve Dopants. Using their own Gaia Memories, Shotaro and Philip use the Double Driver belts to transform and combine into Kamen Rider Double to fight the Dopant menace and keep Futo safe.



While joined in their fight by investigator Ryu Terui, who transforms to Kamen Rider Accel, the mystery of Philip's past and his relation to the Sonozaki Family and their Museum organization are revealed. The truth is, Philip was son of Sonozaki Ryubei @ Terror Gaia.

But, he is not the pure Philip, he just the spirit of Sonozaki Ryubei's Son who'd died since a boy. Ryubei hope that Philip will remain as Gaia Memory and help them to get a Mysterious power that he was researhing before losing his real son.

Ryu Terui was is special police officer that equipt with an Accel Belt. Power source of Kamen Rider Accel was his own will to revenge his whole family that killed by Weather Gaia Memory.



Masked Rider Accel can turn to a motorcycle. The Accel bike form always used for chasing scene.



It remind to a famous anime long ago, Mospeada. But in Mospeada, their bike combine with them as an equipment to be a robot. Mospeada is a sub series from Macross (Robotech).

Actually, the boss of Shotaro didn't died. He'll be Masked Rider Skull and all things about him still left in mystery to Shotaro, Philip and his Daughter.


Masked Rider Skull also remind to Skullomania, a character from Street Fighter EX.
